The Futureheads: "Skip To The End"
(2006)

8 Haikus About the New Futureheads Single
“Skip”s a weird single —
Vocal flourishes, sure, but
Few hooks; the band is
Wide open, rhythmic
Unlike terse melodies from
Transcendent debut
Lyrics remain deft,
Unadorned: “Is it worth the
Possible heartbreak?”
They strive not for more;
One sentiment expressed and
Unadorned and true.
But can’t we expect
More from our dear Futureheads?
Something explosive?
Harmonies cascade
(“Deciiiiiiiide!”) and chorus flutters
Cute — but to what end?
No payoff, just ride
Out on that same neat note, a
Three minute lifespan.
So: unimpressive?
Unfettered? Undone? Or
Am I unfair? Unsure.
