The "We're Still Inside The Dream" Award

By Jessica Faulds | 12 December 2010

Weezer
Hurley
(Epitaph; 2010)

You think it’s a coincidence that Inception and Hurley came out in the same year? No way. They’re toying with us, man. This shit really happens.

I mean, do you know anyone who’s actually listened to this album? Didn’t think so. You know why? Cause it’s not real. It’s just an empty idea, a planted memory that no one even bothered to fill in.

Did they really think they could get away with it? That we’d buy something this absurd, even from Weezer? No way, man. The real Weezer have spent the past several years in an underground bunker, recording backing tracks for Rock Band. Meanwhile, The Man uses their name to see how much we, the dumb, open-throated public will swallow.

Next up: Black Flag scores Sex and the City 3. A Britney Spears Marcel Duchamp concept album. A Lady Gaga/Michael Bolton collabo. Or did that actually happen? Who knows what’s real anymore?

So here’s the plan: drive your car off the nearest bridge to get kicked back into a reality where Weezer broke up after The Green Album (2001).

There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.
