Lil Wayne f/ Young Money: "Every Girl"
Single (2009)
By David Greenwald | 6 April 2009
Rappers have been lying for too long. Snoop Dogg does not want to give you a sexual eruption (he’s out for dough). Jeezy will not be like your medicine. Lil Wayne, on the other hand, has just recorded the most refreshingly honest song in the history of drunken frat brotherhood: “Every Girl,” a track about wishing he could fuck every girl in the world. And that’s just the chorus.
Miraculously, the song manages to straddle (sorry) the line between misogynist anthem and loverman sincerity. As one of the four Young Money members on the track notes, “Wayne say: Pussy, pussy, pussy.” Weezy goes from rapping about filet mignon and promising, “If she let me in, I’m‘a own that pussy” to Auto-Tune crooning about how “I don’t think you’re beautiful / I think you’re beyond it,” the two modes divided by a smooth “anyway.”
Among his accomplices’ verses, there’s a crude pun (“Are any of y’all into girls the way that I am / Le’s be honest”), a joke about Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham that Wayne dropped months ago, and a “Desperate Housewives” nod not quite as clever as the Clipse’s (also: “In about three years, holler at me, Miley Cyrus”), but it should be clear from the first snare hit that this is not a song about wordplay. It is a song about Wayne’s penis, and thus, everyone’s penis: boners you can believe in.
