An early December offering of hip-hop, electronic, what Allmusic refers to as “R&B-inspired sophisti-pop” apparently, Sharon Van Etten features, and ten-minute ambient beasts, CMGcast 137 is dedicated to making whatever brutal roadtrip/flight/cross-country Greyhound nightmare you’re about to embark on this December a little more bearable. It will also be our final CMGcast of the year—though not final podcast; we’ll have a No Big Hair comp later in the month—and marks the end of our usual, erratic updates. CMG Awards season will be starting up next week, and our Top 30 Albums of 2013 list will start rolling out the week after. If us cutting our list down by 20 albums makes you think the word count will drop, prepare to be sorely mistaken.

If our upcoming Top 30 and weeks’ worth of Awards somehow aren’t enough, you can always revisit our extensive podcast archives, and we’ll also be posting some of our favorite songs of the year—most of which won’t be on our list—on our Tumblr all month long.
