LVIII

By Scott Reid | 13 July 2009

I’ve selflessly dedicated my ten podcasts so far this year to some true Giants, amongst them: the asshole in his assholishly decorated car who splashed me while high-fiving his knob, which, in its own right, is also an asshole; Rod Blagojevich’s sack; Newfies; Mike O’Neill in general, but also his role as Philadelphia Collins’ son on Trailer Park Boys, more specifically the whole Mustard Tiger scene; a less shitty commute to work; an ongoing battle against the Die Hard–meets–Chucky of ant colonies; and, most recently, the magnificent number 57.

And yet, for all the adoration sent out one well-meaning hour at a time, the Macca ratio of love you make:love you take has been fucking terrible. Did that shitheel driver hit us back with a thank you, much less an apology? Of course not. Nor has Rod Blagojevich attributed any of his further ball inflation to our (then timely) ego-stroke. 57’s been keeping quiet too, as it does, though it has only been a week. I don’t even want to get into the ant situation, but I’m pretty sure right now they’re developing some medication—or at least tiny metal suits—in their underground lair, aka my floor, to survive through the winter.

So, with many thanks to the artists and labels involved for both creating/releasing this music and being gracious enough to allow it to appear here, I dedicate this podcast to those who could use it most: my other podcasts. From which a number of these artists also appear, coincidentally. Enjoy:
