LX

By Conrad Amenta | 24 August 2009

Late August is a humid mess for us valley-dwellers. Going to the corner store feels like power walking through a giant block of melty butter. People sit around in coffee shops with rorschach patterns of sweat on their shirts. The colorful smells our bodies somehow emit when battered by heat are evident when arriving at that crowded apartment party, shoes piled steaming by the front door. Summer is macro: you think of your friends as part of the teeming mass of smelly humanity. Winter is micro: you concentrate on not dropping your cigarette in the snow and try to walk without falling. And so I’ve tried, to the best of my ability, to combat the humidity by assembling the type of music that I listen to in winter while standing at a bus stop, craning my neck in either direction, cursing.

As always, thanks to the labels and artists for letting CMG use their material. A special thanks to Pitch Perfect PR, who always go above and beyond.
