This will be the last Cokemachineglow podcast of the Bush presidency—at least until the economy has recovered enough for Jeb to assume the throne in far flung dystopian 2016—and so I’d like to dedicate it to Dubya. What a ride! Sure, there have been a few bumps in the road to immortal recognition and a permanent security detail. And fine: these last eight years may well come to be considered the cultural and political nadir of 21st Century American history. Learning how to be President sure was harder than we thought it would be, wasn’t it!
But breathe easy, George. It’s almost over. No more late nights and early mornings. No more having to work Saturdays. The ranch beckons, the Presidential Library is under construction, and Laura has even put aside some really great books to put in it. Spy shit, with submarines. So pitch your chair back, Bushy; put your feet up on that big Oval Office desk; mute CNN Financial and its tinny refrain that the stock market is burning to cinders, and listen to these excellent tunes. You deserve to finally rest. Because at the end of the day, fuck it, right?
